舒睿,上海财经大学商学院副教授,博士生导师,在上海交通大学安泰里番 获得管理学博士学位,美国马里兰大学罗伯特史密斯商学院联合培养博士。研究兴趣包括组织中的员工建言行为,团队有效性,权力与地位以及领导力等。主持国家自然科学基金项目,其论文发表在《Academy of Management Journal (AMJ), Journal of Organizational Behavior(JOB), Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Business and Management》《Journal of Business Research》《南开管理评论》《管理学报》等期刊上。


讲座摘要

Employees often take the initiative to influence their managers to promote changes in work practices. One key aspect of this is voice—the expression of constructive ideas or concerns about work. While prior research has examined various features of voice, such as content, context, and framing, it has largely treated voice as an isolated influence tactic. In practice, however, employees often pair voice with other tactics, including ingratiation—the use of favors or flattery to increase likability. Although ingratiation may enhance persuasiveness by reducing the interpersonal threat of speaking up and is often viewed as politically savvy, it can also be perceived as insincere or manipulative, which conflicts with the altruistic nature of voice. This tension raises an important question: How does ingratiation, when combined with voice, affect managerial endorsement? To resolve this puzzle, we conducted three studies— a historical archival analysis, a field study, and a pre-registered experiment—that offer fresh insights into how these influence tactics jointly affect leaders’ evaluations of employee input.
